How are you celebrating Philanthropy Week?

It’s Philanthropy Week in the Lowcountry—the Coastal Community Foundation’s seventh annual celebration of our region’s big charitable heart. “What can I do?” you might ask. If you haven’t made your plans yet, not to worry, as four come-one, come-all events are still on the schedule.
On Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., join Charleston Trident Association of Realtors for a Habitat for Humanity Build Day at three sites in Charleston, Dorchester, and East Cooper. To find more info and get registered, click here.
Tomorrow from noon to 2 p.m., you can also fill up on good food and good works during the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals at Trident Technical College. You’ll see two outstanding individuals, a business, and a community organization be recognized for their service and also hear keynote speaker Marc Chardon, president and CEO of Blackbaud. Friday night brings the event we’re all abuzz about: Charleston magazine and Coastal Community Foundation’s 2012 Giving Back Awards. Put on your cocktail attire for the “Oscars of Lowcountry Giving,” emceed by Mr. Hospitality himself, Charleston Grill GM Mickey Bakst. In addition to finding out which amazing locals won awards in volunteer, community catalyst, and business categories, you’ll get to help select the Nonprofit of the Year via text vote. Plus, there’s live entertainment by Charleston Jazz Orchestra Chamber Ensemble, singers Quiana Parler and Leah Suarez, and hip-hop violinist Daniel D. Philanthropy Week wraps up at Keep North Charleston Beautiful’s Butterfly Garden in Park Circle, where volunteers will collect trash and help with light landscaping from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Get inspired, get involved, and give back.
