ZAGS’s ”sunwraps” offer stylish protection

Mount Pleasant mom Jennifer Horton helms a busy family of five, and “we are forever out in the sun,” she says. “We’re on the dock or at the beach, soccer practice, Clemson games in the fall....” For years, she wished for a swath of sun-protective fabric that she could throw over her little ones’ legs, or wrap around her own burning shoulders—while still looking stylish. The product simply didn’t exist, so finally, she invented it.

ZAGS launched last November with a collection of 24 “sunwraps” in a wicking; quick-drying; stain-, odor-, and microbe-resistant polyester with an ultraviolet protection factor of 30-plus. “Squares” ($68), ”Shawls” ($88), and “Blankets” ($108) feature coastal-themed designs—many Horton’s own paintings.

Manufactured in North Charleston by Vapor Apparel, they’re sold at zagslife.com as well as boutiques in the region. Locally, peruse the offerings at Copper Penny, Finicky Filly, and Germain Dermatology.
