BELLE OF THE BALL: Leesa Phipps of Distinctive Events gathered pale yellow cushion mums and cream “Virginia” and sweetheart roses into the flower girl’s pomander, and then accented it with blue crystal daisies and hanging Austrian crystals.

Alexis and Tye (in his bright blue tie) left their reception in a sleek Mercedes Maybach rented from Baker Motor Company.

SWEET SISTERHOOD: Six of Alexis’ bridesmaids and many of her guests are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first sorority that included African Americans. It’s tradition for all of the members in attendance of a fellow sister’s wedding to form a circle and sing the sorority’s national hymn and sweetheart song. “It got emotional for me, because I was seeing some of my sisters for the first time in a long time,” says Alexis. “To have them standing around me showing their support and love and just listening to the words reminded me of the bond we share as AKA sisters.”

The head table’s chiavari chairs were wrapped with Tiffany blue satin bows that echoed the hues of the table linens.

SPARKLE & SPLENDOR: Cymbidium orchids, dendrobium orchids, hydrangea, mini calla lilies, peonies, Porcelina spray roses, and Virginia roses were gathered into clear vases and accented with blue and white crystal sprays and wrap.

Silky blue napkins tied with off-white satin ribbons mimicked the look of the Tiffany blue box cake. Each guest received “something blue” candies nestled in white beribboned boxes at their place setting.

Elaine’s Events stacked square layers of white cake and raspberry mousse, all dressed like the famous jewelry boxes with Italian buttercream icing and fondant ribbons.
