ary Ann struggled with choosing colors at first, but opted for soft, spring hues, seen here in a bridesmaid bouquet of garden-fresh ranunculus, roses, and sweet peas.
Cary Ann played up the vintage factor for her celebration, from harmonicas to these Victorian boots that would see both a barn wedding and a tented reception.
Groom Michael Trent Robinson and his groomsmen in the Irvin~House Vineyards on Wadmalaw Island. The groom and bride are both Charleston-based musicians who often play together.
Simple touches like grapevine wreaths (apropos for a vineyard wedding) with blooms woven in dressed the tasting room barn, where the ceremony took place.
The Lasso Choir, headed by Lindsay Holler, sang “Look in my Eyes†as Cary Ann was escorted down the aisle by her father and stepfather.
Lightning and thunder cracked as Michael Trent kissed his bride, Cary Ann.
Michael Trent and Cary Ann gleaned inspiration for their wedding from bridal websites and their love of music. The Lasso Choir sang Cary Ann down the aisle and into a new life with Michael Trent. As for her lace-kissed gown? She says she bought it “for a song†at the Bridal Warehouse in Nashville.
“She was an uninvited guest but ultimately became the life of the party!†says Cary Ann on Mother Nature’s stormy appearance at her wedding.
Bridesmaids took cover under vintage parasols in the wedding’s palette of pale pink, chocolate, and white.
“The harmonicas were the coup de grâce,†says Cary Ann, who bought 100 for guests. Garden urns overflowing with greens and white hydrangeas and lilies dotted the tented reception site.
Jim Smeal created a live oak tree-inspired confection for the rustic day.
“I hope they will remember the wedding because I will never forget them splashing in the rain!†says Cary Ann of the couple’s junior guests.
