Local entrepreneurs Margaret Dear and Ross Robertson dispatch a mini fleet of 1959 ice cream trucks up to 60 miles from downtown Charleston—good news for both urban- and plantation-bound brides who aim to cool off their warm-weather wedding guests. Loaded with soft-serve ice cream and other frosty treats (like shaved ice and even a Square Bob confection), the women customize offerings to suit clients’ budgets and cravings alike.

Margaret, who always wanted to be “an ice cream man” when she grew up, says she and Ross never anticipated how much pleasure they’d get from giving clients and their guests a taste of the unforgettable Mr. Koolie experience. “We bring a lot of memories to people,” says Margaret.
