To celebrate the start of the upcoming summer concert series, Chamber Music Charleston presented a special Gala Chamber Music soirée at the Old Exchange Building. The elegant evening began with a Champagne reception, where supporters gathered in high spirits awaiting this much-anticipated performance. Afterwards, everyone headed upstairs to the Great Hall for an hour-long concert.

The ensemble performed Mozart’s Horn Quintet in E Flat Major and Debussy’s String Quartet in G Minor. While both performances were spectacular, my favorite was the string quartet. Closing my eyes and listened intently, I was transported by the music. Both performances received well-deserved standing ovations.

The evening concluded with a reception in the S.C. Daughters of the American Revolution room with food and wine provided by Maverick Southern Kitchens. The exquisitely prepared hors d’oeuvres included charcuterie, crudités, shrimp cocktail, bite-size chocolate torte, and homemade cookies—a festive end to a delightful evening.
