Showcased in the issue’s “on Location” section, be sure to check out the long list of the venues, planners, boutiques, caterers, photographers, and florists we Lowcountry locals hold so dear. Shot by frequent Charleston Weddings contributor Peter Frank Edwards, the great piece is a testament to why our turf’s such a sought-after spot to say “I do.” But we already knew that, right?! The 4th annual “Fashion’s Night Out”—a NYC-started, now global shopping initiative—is coming to Charleston’s bridal community by way of Modern Trousseau. Stop by the King Street boutique between 5 and 8 p.m. Thursday, September 6, to join shoppers worldwide in celebrating fashion and boosting consumer confidence and the industry’s economy. In addition to the obvious activity of the night—shopping!—you can also try your hand at designing during the event. As part of the FNO festivities, you’re invited to sketch the wedding dress of your dreams, which, along with all other finished designs, will be posted to the boutique’s website and Facebook page, where the public will help designer Callie Tein pick a winner. Callie will incorporate the winning sketch—or elements of the dress design—into one of her upcoming collections. If that isn’t enough, the winner of the contest will score 20 percent off a bridal or evening gown from the King Street shop. Another perk of the night? You’ll feel good about any purchases made, as Modern Trousseau is donating 10 percent of all retail proceeds from the night to Lowcountry AIDS Services.
