Charleston Wine + Food Festival kicks off ticket sales with two delicious Labor Day weekend events

Written by Kinsey Gidick

We may be six months out from the 2013 Charleston Wine + Food Festival (February 28-March 3), but our stomachs are already growling. Luckily, festival organizers are offering two amuse-bouche events to whet our appetites over Labor Day weekend as they kick off ticket sales.

On Thursday, August 30, head over to Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina for the Ticket Launch Party. Marketing director Ashley Zink says guests can expect to get a taste of what’s to come as they meander from station to station enjoying bites from Charleston’s best chefs as Dub Island & the Dubplates play.

On Friday, local chefs Frank Lee, Frank McMahon, Jeremiah Bacon, Mike Lata, and Sean Brock, along with Frank Stitt of Birmingham’s Highlands Bar & Grill and George Mendes of New York City’s ALDEA, board a chartered fishing boat to reel in dinner for Saturday night’s Local Catch Cookout. This new event is in the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina’s Lookout Pavilion and will give guests a chance to dine on the bounty from our local waters as well as enjoy dishes prepared from seafood caught by Clammer Dave and fisherman Mark Marhefka—a fantastic way to say “ahoy” to this year’s upcoming Charleston Wine + Food festivities.
