Scare up some kid-friendly Halloween excitement at these local celebrations

OCTOBER 28-30
Halloween Family Fun Evenings

At Magnolia Plantation, get a thrill from a nighttime train ride and Gullah folklore, then enjoy “swamp juice,” popcorn, and marshmallows roasted over a bonfire. Legare Farms Maze & Pumpkin Patch

Try your hand at navigating a field of wax myrtles in Legare Farms’ version of the classic corn maze, learning cool facts about these fragrant trees along the way. The pumpkin patch, hayrides, a scarecrow factory, the animal barnyard, and horseback rides add to the fun of this autumn celebration. Legare Farms, 2620 Hanscombe Point Rd., John’s Island. Trick-or-Treat in Hampton Park

Kids up to age 12 are invited to collect candy from parked vehicles decorated by local businesses. After they’ve filled a sack with sweets, there’s still jump castles, face painting, hayrides, music, and more on tap. Hampton Park, Mary Murray Dr. Friday, 4-6pm. Free. West Farm Corn Maze

Trek through six acres of corn and three miles of trails at this year’s ocean-themed corn maze (be sure to bring a flashlight after dark). After wandering through the maize, enjoy barbecue, a hayride, the farm zoo, a pumpkin barn, and scarecrow alley. West Farm, 2641 Cooper Store Rd., Moncks Corner. Isle of Palms Halloween Carnival

Halloween fun for kids of all ages awaits at this holiday extravaganza. After participating in the costume contest—split into nine age divisions—kids can bounce in jump castles, get adorned with temporary tattoos and face paint, and play games for a chance at winning candy and other fun prizes.
