Cooking Up a Storm
Elliot- and Cannonborough chefs dish up help for Hurricane Sandy victims

We may be rolling merrily into the holiday season, but don’t forget our Northeastern neighbors are still dealing with Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath. As a community of Hurricane Hugo survivors, we know the help needed after such devastation, and some local chefs have created a tasty opportunity to pay it forward: the Boroughs Helping Boroughs fundraiser.
On Monday, December 3, The Grocery chef Kevin Johnson has enlisted culinary stars from his Cannon- and Elliotborough ’hoods to prepare the feast. Josh Keeler of Two Boroughs Larder, Robert Stehling of Hominy Grill, Trattoria Lucca’s Ken Vedrinski, John Ondo of Lana, and Mike Lata of the soon-to-open The Ordinary will each offer up a course, then the good folks at Sugar Bakeshop and WildFlour Pastry will shore up dessert.
All proceeds will benefit The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and NYC Food Flood, and guests can help raise additional funds by bidding on silent auction items donated by Charleston Wine + Food Festival, Heirloom Book Company, Le Crueset, and Mixson Market. From a city that knows a thing or two about a big storm, Boroughs Helping Boroughs is a delicious way to assist those in need.
