Chef Sean Brock welcomes Daniel Humm and Will Guidara of Eleven Madison Park for a June 13 feast celebrating the launch of their new cookbook,
I Love New York: Ingredients and Recipes

Written by Marion Sullivan

North meets South when chef Daniel Humm and co-owner Will Guidara—the dynamic duo behind acclaimed New York restaurants Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad—join Charleston’s own Sean Brock for a summer evening, Lowcountry-style. Pitmaster Rodney Scott of Scott’s BBQ in Hemingway is bringing his whole hog barbecue, while Brock will present a traditional Lowcountry boil at this fine feast celebrating the release of Humm and Guidara’s new cookbook, I Love New York: Ingredients and Recipes. Add to the fête the moss-draped location of Boone Hall Plantation’s Cotton Dock, and you have one sweet Southern event.

“I can’t wait to have my good friends Daniel and Will in Charleston and show them all the amazing things the Lowcountry has to offer,” says Brock. “Rodney’s barbecue will be the pièce de résistance.”

Humm and Guidara’s two world-renowned restaurants, the elaborate three-Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park, which is currently ranked number five on the S. Pellegrino list of World’s 50 Best Restaurants, and its more casual sister, The NoMad, which has already earned a Michelin star, represent the best in New York City dining. In their new cookbook, Guidara and Humm pay tribute to the food, ingredients, and culinary history of New York City while exploring the Hudson farmland to unearth its traditions and agricultural heritage. They offer nearly 150 reinterpreted recipes of New York classics like Oyster Pan Roast and Manhattan Clam Chowder, but you’ll also find love letters like the tribute to Brooklyn’s Mast Brothers Chocolate Factory, a Chocolate Truffle Tart.
