Barry Waldrop, often referred to as the “mayor” of Riverland Terrace, put together this holiday block party with plenty of help from his neighbors, who arrived bearing everything from their front porch rocking chairs, to bubble makers for the kids, to their favorite side dishes. “Around here, it’s all about cooperation,” says Waldrop. “The party wouldn’t be nearly as much fun—or easy—if everyone didn’t add their own little piece of the puzzle.”; photo by Peter Frank Edwards
