Charleston Home is seeking the following candidates for unpaid internship positions. Interns will have the opportunity to work on photo shoots; interact with local news media, event designers, interior designers, and retailers; learn the magazine business from an editorial or marketing perspective; earn bylines and much more. Qualified editorial intern Responsibilities include:
Write small and mid-length stories for two magazines
Assist in story development
Research topics via the internet, library, and phone contacts
Assist with prop gathering and prep for photo shoots
Compile community calendar information
Work closely with art department
Assist in updating and writing for website

Requirements:
EXCELLENT writing skills (sample required, plus completion of brief editing and writing tests)
EXCELLENT research skills
GOOD proofreading skills
GOOD web knowledge
Self-starter, ability to work independently
Must have your own transportation
15 hours per week required
Adaptability and good disposition—we have projects large and small, and very little is the same everyday.

Qualified marketing intern Responsibilities include:
Compile research and assist in organization of various contests, newsletters, and special events
Write promotional copy for various contests, newsletters, and special events
Compile contacts for press releases; write press releases
Assist with distribution efforts
Communicate with the public via social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook
Brainstorm additional branding and exposure initiatives; work these from the ground up
Serve as liaison between editorial department and marketing department
Assist with website updates

Requirements:
Working knowledge of role of marketing in print media
Proficient in social networking media; abreast of new evolutions of these tools
Self-starter, ability to work independently, comfortable working with others
Good writing and communication skills
Must have your own transportation
