Inspired by an image of a snake eating the Earth and talk of a 2012 doomsday, I began to wonder, “How would one dress for the end of the world?” This collection is based on collisions, cosmic and otherwise, juxtaposing the pampered with the survival-driven scavenger. Some looks appear to be melting—an aesthetic achieved by treating fabric with resin—while others are frozen and angular. Futuristic fabrics, velvets and furs, structured leather, and paper-thin knits mesh to make innovative clothing. With this presentation, I hope to turn a devastating catastrophe into an exclusive party.
