Hum along to famous tunes “Big Spender” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now” during this 1966 hit Broadway musical. Based on the book by Neil Simon, which follows Federico Fellini’s screenplay for the film Nights of Cabiria, this is the simple story of a kind-hearted girl with a dubious background who’s looking for Mr. Right. Simon’s colorful characters, Dorothy Fields’ hit lyrics, and Cy Coleman’s score make Sweet Charity one of the best of the old-style musicals. James F. Dean Theatre, 133 South Main St., Summerville.
