“Prop Master: An Installation by Juan Logan & Susan Harbage Page”
To craft this large-scale installation, Juan Logan and Susan Harbage Page incorporated pieces from the Gibbes Museum’s permanent collection of portraits, landscape paintings, and archival materials, as well as decorative art from local public and private collections. Along the way, they added in their own works to render a fascinating exhibit that investigates the museum’s role as both prop master and prop with regard to race, class, and gender relations in Charleston society.
