The first session of Spoleto Festival Jazz Talks focuses on the life and career of legendary composer and musician Joseph “Fud” Livingston. Led by Mayor John Tecklenburg; Livingston’s great nephew; and historian Karen Chandler, a co-founder of the Charleston Jazz Initiative, this discussion explores Livingston‘s impact on the genre and his experience working with early, influential artists. The second event takes place on June 3 with Larry Blumenfeld and Grammy-winning trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard.
