“From Slave to Sharecropper”

Commemorating the bicentennial of the abolition of the international slave trade by the United States and Great Britain, this powerful exhibit is based on the memories of Lowcountry descendants of slaves and sharecroppers. Images and artifacts, including period farm equipment, demonstrate the difficult circumstances endured by African Americans after the Civil War but also portray the strength of character that helped them overcome those trying times. The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St. Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm; Sunday, 1-5pm. $10; $5 ages three-12; free for child under three. (843)722-2996, www.charlestonmuseum.org
