“Contemporary Charleston 2009: Revelation of Process”
Five Holy City residents share their artistic creations in this multimedia exhibit. View pieces by Ben Timpson, whose art begins as miniature works on slides, alongside canvases that Karin Olah has covered in textiles, paint, and graphite. See how Ishmael burns and manipulates spray paint, combining it with metal, residue, and enamel into works of art. And don’t miss lectures and demonstrations by two of the artists: Dorothy Netherland, who speaks on July 11 about her painted panes of glass, and Jonathan Brilliant, who discusses his sculpture, photography, and more on July 18. City Gallery at Waterfront Park, 34 Prioleau St. Tuesday-Friday, 11am-6pm; Saturday & Sunday, noon-5pm; call for lecture times. Free. (843)958-6484, www.charlestonarts.sc
