“20th-Century Masters in the Collection”
Painters Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg were both leading forces in the American pop art movement, inspiring the transition from Abstract Impressionism. But they were also neighbors who saw each other most every day and close friends who critiqued and inspired one another’s work. This installation, drawn from the Columbia Museum’s collection, focuses on the similarities of their painting styles and the way their relationship was reflected in their art. Columbia Museum of Art, 1515 Main St., Columbia. Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm; Sunday, 1-5pm; first Friday of each month, 10am-8pm. $10; $8 senior/military; $5 student; free for child under six.
