Years ago, this town’s shrimpers revolutionized the industry with their innovative baiting techniques. Now, Yemassee celebrates yearly with a delicious festival. At Thursday’s opening ceremony, feast your eyes on the lighted parade and fireworks, and feast your bellies on succulent shrimp. On Friday, don’t miss your opportunity to boogie from 9 p.m. ‘til midnight at the street dance, and on Saturday night, the Mayor’s Dance held at Interstate Packers provides a more formal occasion for light-footed attendees.
