Since 1953, the Preservation Society of Charleston’s annual Carolopolis Awards seek to honor excellence in historic preservation here in the Holy City. With four categories including exterior, interior, new construction, and “Pro Merito” (awarded to Carolopolis winners from at least 20 years ago that have maintained excellence in preservation), the ceremony recognizes buildings and structures that have upheld the Holy City’s standard of distinction in preserving historic architecture.
